I went home for the weekend last friday, although I only stayed through part of saturday. While I was there I visited my grandma. Before this though, you have to know about my summer. About halfway or so through, my grandma had a heart attack. She had been in a nursing home for about 8-9 years before this from three strokes, and the hospital was just the last thing in a series of maladies she had. Since the heart attack I visited my grandma every single day of the summer, except for about 5 days of one week. I saw her in the hospital, and I watched her get better, and eventually she was moved back into her nursing home. However, she wasn't the same, she didn't quite make it back all the way up to how she was before the attack. Still, I came every day. I got a job at a vet clinic after she got out, I started work at 7 30 but made sure I got out at 4 every day so I could see her. This whole time my parents were in colorado, and besides my uncle, I was the only regular visitor she had. I visited her every day up until school started, and then I dropped by on some of the weekends when I came back, though I could have been better about it. This saturday was the worst I had seen her, I won't go into the details, but she wasn't looking well at all. After visiting her and having lunch with my dad I went back to my apartment for school. My phone hadn't been charged for the weekend, and on sunday night I found it and plugged it in. This morning I found 5 messages on my phone, and called home to find that she had passed away.
I came to terms with the fact this was going to happen a while ago, and I knew she wasn't going to get better. I prayed for one thing for my grandma, that she would go quickly so her pain would end. I don't think I've ever had a prayer granted before that was this hard. I love you grandma, you were the greatest woman I ever knew, and I hope that you're happy up in heaven.
