#12 - Temptation
With so many leaves around it is amazing that the hot cardio surgeon who struts around her hospital like she owns it (which actually she does) got any work done, but she managed to control her hormones just enough to rock out every surgery she did, however when she was finished for the day and at the new bar that had just opened up down the street where everyone congregated, she released her will a little and usually didn’t go home alone, one chick had been openly looking at her for the past few nights and Erica had noticed. Sauntering up to her and purchasing her a drink they easily fell into conversation or should I say flirting. She was temptation incarnate, and Erica fell for her hook, line and sinker.

#13 - View
The view from her balcony window in her new city was simply breathtaking, being up before the sun rose always has its advantages and that was one of them, her balcony faced the west, the way the sun rose in the morning, shining off her golden hair and creating a halo around her head. Sipping her coffee she watched another beautiful autumn day dawn, there were leaves everywhere, piled up on the pavement, their red and gold color reflecting off the shinny metal of the cars whizzing past. Erica shook her head and went back to bed; she was getting nostalgic as she got older.

#14 - Music
Music filtered through to her ears, someone was playing Bach rather badly on the piano, heading towards the noise she cringed as another wrong note was hit. Entering the music room she found her son sitting at the piano next to his sister trying hard to teach her the notes, her feet couldn’t quite reach the peddles yet but she had her mothers determination so, she was half on and half off the seat stamping on the peddles with all her tiny might. Erica walked silently into the room and tapped her son on the shoulder, cocking her head slightly telling him to move he rose and let her sit. Taking her daughter by the armpits she placed her back on the seat and replaced her feet with her own. Putting her daughter’s fingers on the piano keys and turning the page back to the beginning Erica began to play, using her daughters’ fingers as her own.

#15 - Silk
The soft silk sheets felt wonderful on her naked skin, the million thread count had cost her a small fortune but had been very worth it. She felt like she was sleeping in luxury something she well and truly deserved after the week she’d had. Losing two patients in two days had been hard on her; one had been a child of only 6 years old. That had made her melancholy so, she splurged on the sheets, retail therapy. Erica thought that only worked on femmes and housewives but she was wrong, it also worked on soft butches, which Erica certainty was not that she would admit it.

#16 - Cover
Erica covered the patients open chest cavity as water and debris rained down upon them in OR3. She had been through this before so as soon as she saw the bulge in the ceiling tile she instantly threw herself on his body protecting him from all water and debris but getting soaked in the process. Her second in command was in the OR with her and she was forced to ask him to finish and close as she was no longer sterile and in definite need of a shower. Stripping off her contaminated scrubs and throwing them into the wash bin she scrubbed out and headed to the locker room, followed by her personal scrub nurse. Stripping down out of her under scrubs she stepped into the shower, pushing the nurse against the wet wall and kissing her passionately. This had been going on for months and they had managed to keep it quiet, just the way they both liked it.

#17 - Promise
Callie
I promised I would never leave you, but my love, I have to. You hurt me so many times in the few months we where together. My heart could not take it anymore, I am a cardiothoracic surgeon, I know how much a heart can take. I hope you have moved on from me as I have from you. My new girlfriend Mary Jo is wonderful and so loving, she knows about you and fortunately for me, she knows how to treat a woman properly. It feels wonderful not having to worry that she will run off to confirm her heterosexuality, she is very gay and a Doctor like me except not in medicine, she teaches at our local university. I made a promise to myself when I left, that I wouldn’t let our debacle of a relationship reflect on my future ones, so Mary Jo and I, clean slate. We know about each others pasts and she can accept me for who I really am, something you couldn’t really do. I am writing to you now to put away the last vestiges of my past self. I’m letting go, I am happy for once in my life, I found my soul mate. You where my first though Callie, you have a place in my heart always.
My wish for you now, my first love is to find someone who makes you as happy as Mary Jo does me. I will write from time to time and see how Arizona turns out for you, yes I know about her but I will not tell you how.
Regards
Dr Erica Hahn M.D F.A.C.S

#18 - Dream
The dream was reoccurring and always vivid, a faceless woman reaching out to Erica’s prone form on the bed, beckoning her forward towards the bright light coming from yonder window, Erica always arose to follow, and walking to the window would see rolling fields of green, blue skies and bright sunlight. The woman would stand beside her, saying nothing and just gaze out with her. Upon awakening Erica always felt at peace within herself and ready to face the day.

#19 - Candle
Erica stubbed her toe on the couch, the storm had finally hit taking the electricity with it, she was wondering around in the dark looking for the candles and matches, she cursed again as she stubbed it on the coffee table but finally reached the cupboard and the spare torch therein. Turning it on, she went to the other cupboard and found the candles and matches. Sitting them in their slots around the room she lit them one by one gradually lighting the room. Taking the torch she dashed upstairs to grab her doona, a book and her pager. The latter nothing she could do about since if she was paged she would not be able to move, the storm was at full force now and it would be suicidal for her to even consider going out there. The candles had burned down to nothing and Erica had read her book from one end to the other by the time the lights came back on, luckily she had not been paged. Taking up her pen she marked on her shopping list new candles for the next storm and headed to bed, blowing out the few remaining candles as she went.

#20 - Talent
Erica’s talent was god given, so natural, so refined that she had earned her fellowship. Her work ethic was above the standards that the fellowship required, she passed all their expectations, even surpassing Preston Burke in her testing, getting a higher score then he even though they where both granted their fellowships. She knew that her gift was not from god, it had been worked and slaved over for many many years, it had taken 20 years for Erica to get to where she was and no man was going to stand in her way at earning the Harper Avery Award for excellence, no man! But because Preston Burke had published, he got it, Erica still believes she was cheated, she was passed over because she was only a woman and even with all her talent she had threatened the manhood of the board so they back stabbed her. Promising her the world and taking it away, the story of her life, always second to Preston Burke.
