IoM: Day One of Shooting

*breaths a big sigh of relief*

Had to wake up at seven today, at which point practically every joint in my body was screaming at me in pain. Oh well I thought, two hours untill the first archery contest of the day starts. Once I've taken some Ibuprofen it'll wear off like it did yesterday. Except I was wrong in my estimation of the amount of time it'd take. By the time Storm was assembled and we were ready to shoot, I couldn't even hold her, let alone draw the string back. I couldn't even mime shooting a bow, my shoulders were so painful.

Then I had the fun of struggling to stay awake (after about two hours sleep, a fire alarm, another three hours sleep and zero caffine) whilst my friends were shooting a portsmouth. (I may hav actually fallen asleep at some point, which was hard as my wheelchair isn't that cofortable. After two and a half dozen we had a break and I got some food and that made me perk up no end. My joints had loosened up by that point and my fingers were itching to do some archery, so I dropped in on the second end of the fourth dozen, shot twenty one arrows and got a score of 150, which is more than my first ever complete portsmoth score.

In the afternoon I shot my first ever Fita 18 (Thats a 40cm target at 18 metres away and 60 arrows for those non-archers.) I was affected my M.E. and stiff joints and couldn't hold at full draw at all to aim, but I got 269, which I'm told is not bad for a first score even without taking into account my health issues.

I'm not feeling too drained either. I'm really glad I didn't try and shoot the full portsmouth. Kellog was intending to bring the club compuond with her and forgot, which is a shame, bcause it'd have been a good chance to try it out without having to worry about my score. (In fact if I had've had a compound to shoot with I'd've technically won the women's compound on the grounds that I would've been the only one.) Oh well, there will be plenty of more oppertuities for me to venture into the darkside.
