Lists Help the Disorganized

Nov 26, 2009 02:48

So, after having had some recent conversations with my wonderful fiancee about our future, I determined that making a list will help this poor soul to not only give me structure, but also some level of accountability. I believe it will be the only way for me to pursue my goals for professional artistry. If I don't have structure and accountability, I stagnate, and stagnation is not what I want. The beginning will be the hardest part, instituting and executing the premise of the list will be the true challenge. So, I post to you here my list of all projects I started at some point but didn't finish, in no particular order. I would also that you give me idea as to how to prioritize these projects, though it's not entirely neccesary as long as I have a list I just choose something from it.

So, without further ado, the list: (complexity 1-5, five being long term or huge scale)

1)Full-Color Map of Torune: One of my biggest creative pursuits these days is my Dungeons and Dragons campaign setting. This project is a large (20"x30" or more) color rendering of the world map, complete with "here there be monsters" parts.
Complexity: 2-3

2)The Eye of God:An oil painting of a photo I took a while back of an oswego sunset where the sun is framed by a tree branch that looks like an eye.
Complexity: 3

3)Portrait of Rhonda and I:After we became engaged, Rhonda wanted me to paint a a portrait of the two of us. Never got around to it.
Complexity: 2

4)Rendering of Quain'tana Kishin'vul Ar'Amaki:Rhonda requested a rendering of her drow warlord character from my D&D game in her new set of gear acquired later in the game.
complexity: 1-2 (depending on the use of color or not)

5)Rendering of Haruka Rastor:I myself have recently had an inspiration to render Rhonda's Genasi Warden from the same D&D game I run, in full color to emphasize the fiery nature of the character.
Complexity: 2

6)Americana Kitsch:One of the ideas I had to garner attention as an artist was to sell paintings at a small country field days, even if it includes Bald Eagles and American flags (okay, so it may not, but there has to be some catering to the audience).
Complexity: 4-5 (for sheer number of paintings)

7)My Portfolio Website:While my current website is fine for what it does, not only is it outdated, but I don't know that it truly captures the essence of who I am and the style I exhibit.
Complexity: 3+ (depends on both size and complexity of the site and it's contents.)

8)Cold and Turning Blue: Chapter 1:A comic idea that I sparked about 4 or 5 years ago which dealt with a bounty hunter and an amnesiac. Deals with a mix of fantasy and technology in a dark sort of way.
COmplexity:4+

9)Project: D'Avari: (A working title); this is a comic project that I illustrated a good 10 pages for many years back. This was a project started...christ, 10 years ago with my good friend Moto writing the scripts and dialogue. Though the initial project is old and likely amatuerish work for us nowadays, the concept still has merit. Dystopian future with an infusion of magic and mysticism to throw things off kilter. Possibly DOA on this list because I don't believe Moto has the time or desire to revisit the concept. (though I could be wrong).
Complexity: 5 (the concept needs to be revisited and probably have a lot of work done to it, also, the original script wasn't particularly long and the whole thing was left open ended shortly after the character first met.)
