My Own Brand- Crazy Concept

When I was home for Thanksgiving, My parents asked my husband and I what we thought the fascination with the zombie apocalypse was. My husband's view was that it was violence made moral because zombies aren't alive, and you are using self-defense, therefore you aren't really killing anything when you shoot, and yet you get to. My thoughts were that there are so few frontiers left nowadays, that this is something we can look at as a way to test our metal, would/could we survive? How? Both of these are opportunities that we don't really currently have.

Today, I came up with another idea. A (now ex) facebook friend posted on her status about Beyonce using the signs of the Illuminati in her half-time performance, and how Madonna had done it blatantly last year, and how we need to wake up. Now, my understanding of the illuminati was relegated to references in fictional stories and movies, so I decided to look them up. Basically, the abbreviated version is they are a secret society- historically, but also fictionally, a "purported conspiratorial organization which is alleged to mastermind events and control world affairs through governments and corporations to establish a New World Order." (wikipedia.) (Yep, hey, I was just looking for the summary!) And basically the New World Order is the emergence of a one world totalitarian government. Which to any Fundamentalist Christian reads "End Times".

AND lightbulb!

Maybe the fascination with the zombie apocalypse has nothing to do with shooting and killing or a new frontier, and everything to do with the fact that we've grown up hearing about the "End Times" and being told they were coming soon. That we should be prepared, it could happen any time, any day, any moment. And we're sick of waiting. And we think it isn't going to happen, or it already has, or we're being obstinate and figure that maybe now when it does, we won't be "raptured" or we don't want to be, and now, we want to know what the world will be like afterwards. Enter Zombie Apocalypse.

My problem is this- Revelations. Now, I am one of those crazy people who believes in the Bible. Who thinks it's true and relevant. But I also think you need to come to it with some sort of understanding, with faith, common sense, and a brain. Yes, parts of the Bible are literal- but parts of it are not. Revelations = Not. Read it. Great book, God inspired, included in the Bible for a reason, but Not Literal. Actually kind of crazy, and it could be argued the writer was inspired by not just God. I'm not being blasphemous here, just stating a fact.

The point is, I get really frustrated at all the different denominations. They argue and interpret things differently, but instead of being able to get along and be unified, they have to make their stand. And to me- that is Completely against what the body of Christ is supposed to be.

Also- when it comes to things like Revelations and End Times prophecy- it's not concrete. It's not literal. So why are you basing your arguments and stances on quicksand that is open to interpretation? "Pre- Trib" "Mid- Trib" "Post-Trib" Why does it matter? If we were meant to know, if it really mattered and was important, pertinent to our lives and faith, if it was supposed to be clear, it would be! Anything that we really need to know to live our lives, is clear in there. If this was important, why would it be masked in figurative language?

And lastly- Who the fuck cares?!

If you read the Bible- the sticking points are Jesus is the Son of God, He died for your sins, He rose again, you need to accept Him and let Him work in your life. The End.

Yes, there's more. But When Jesus left He didn't say, "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation, and pick it to death, and argue about it and divide my body." He didn't say, "Go into the world and tell them to prepare for the end and look to the skies for when I return on a whacked out white horse and attempt to decipher the signs that were left in an obscure prophecy that can be seen to be fulfilled in a multitude of ways." He said, "Go into all the world preaching the gospel to all creation." and "Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul and with all your mind. And love your neighbor as yourself."

So my point is- Who cares about the illuminati? Who cares about the end of the world? Is that really what you need to be living for? Or worrying about?

No- it doesn't matter. What does is how you live your life now. How you love now. And how you allow Jesus to work in your life now. If this isn't what's important, you mind as well be a Zombie.
