Go figure I'd be tempted to have cake at another diabetics birthday. I guess its different when someone is on insulin.
J and I took off and when to a Japanese market afterward. We got very decorative origami paper and I picked up something new for my chopstick collection as well as various candies to have in moderation of course. I really really wanted to try sushi. The women there only spoke a little english, but i liked to hear them speak their native language while closing the shop down for the day. They were very gentle and polite and bowed when they handed back credit cards, wishing us a nice day.
We ran around the outdoor mall in Salt Lake, which is the only mall I find interesting because of the people there and how it is all built. There are speakers outside everyshop so music is everywhere, they will slowly change to a new song when you walk to a new area. It is still too cold to run through the fountains there but that will come a few months from now.
A couple of guys dressed in Air Force uniforms asked us for a good local restaurant which has good food and good drinks. We warned them of Utahs alcohol laws and how little they actually can give you at restaurants. I told them about a guy that asked for a beer at Chilis and complained to three waiters and the manager about how he was getting ripped off for alcohol content, at which they welcomed him to Utah. They laughed and all of us did a fair amount of Utah bashing.
Later there were two people singing and playing guitar with a very indie feel to their voices on the corner. I put a dollar into their open guitar case. I asked them what the name of their band was and they gave each other a blank stare. I need to plan for when this happens again because they asked me what a good name would be. We tossed out a few names and the other said ' short for oliver...? its final. short for oliver.' I hope they will keep the name.
