so I was rereading some of the essays I had written for my camp application and I stumbled upon the mission for the rest of my life:

....kids so often hear the hopeless and hateful messages of the world more often than the promise and grace of God. They are taught legalistic religious capitalism instead of the freedom of the Gospel. They are taught that appearance, reputation, and status are ultimate truth instead of the Truth of the resurrection. They are taught an impersonal and angry score-keeper instead of a God of unconditional love. Children and teenagers need to hear the message of Christ and they need to hear it as often as possible...

hmmm. so youth ministry it is.
