as i walked home tonight i wondered whether my freshly-released and newly-received 3.17 gpa (okay by my standards, rather pedestrian by mba standards) would merit me any consideration from potential employers in my search for a summer internship. this lamentation was undoubtedly spurred by a conversation i heard earlier today, where three caucasians were bemoaning the fact that "their 3.5 gpa and two a minuses basically screwed their chances at landing at investment banking."
now normally i would've done something about that, but these caucasians were approximately twice my size. the last thing i wanted to do was get blood on my only suit, least of all mine.
while i was reliving that particularly pleasant conversation i passed by hart house field - at least twice as large as the entire college covered courts space - and saw the strangest, most wonderful thing:
people were skiing on the field.
it wasn't a slope and there weren't any pine trees or flag markers, but people were skiing.
it was unlike anything i'd ever seen before.
and in that moment i was grateful that the beauty of such a sight was not lost on me, no matter how "pedestrian" my gpa might have been.
