I have a story for you. This didn't happen to me, I just witnessed the entire thing.
At work today, a lady came in for a highlight/blow dry. She has never been to the salon before, so most walk-in's go to level 1 stylists if they're available. Once the stylist started highlighting her hair, she mentioned to her that she was a palm reader and is willing to give her a free palm reading and in return if she could have this service for free. The stylist let her know that that wasn't possible because this is a business and she cannot just give her a free service. The lady then said, "well that's okay I'll just say that I hate it and then I'll get a free service anyway". So, from the beginning this lady showed signs of being crazy. While she was waiting for her color to process, she became antsy and started walking around the salon, she came up to me because I was near the nail area, and said, "I can't sit still for long, is it okay if I remove my nail polish?" I thought it was kind of weird, but I said okay. Then she asks if she can paint her own nails, I wasn't really comfortable with that so I asked the front desk. By this point our front desk person was becoming really annoyed with her. So, he came over and let her know that wasn't possible. It's time for her color to come down. She box colors her hair with black color, and wanted to become blond. So, this isn't going to happen after one time visiting the salon, unless you want orange hair. So, we obviously have to tone her hair because the bleach is going to lift uneven because of the black box color. Toning, is putting a non permanent color/shine over the bleach to even out the color of the hair, so yes it's going to be darker than what the bleach originally was (yellow and the roots and orange at the ends with 40 vol!), but at least it will be even. The stylist let the lady look at the color chart and pick the color she was comfortable with going over her hair. Again, it is impossible for her hair to become bleach blond from highlighting it one time after using the box dye. Time for the blowdry, once she sat in that chair and saw her hair, what did she do? She did EXACTLY what she said she was going to do, say that she hated it. She started going crazy, and saying that is was even darker than when she came in? That, just isn't possible. She made such a huge scene and looked just absolutely ridiculous. The manager even came over. He was like," did you go to and graduate from Cosmetology school and work at a salon with an intense training program?" She was like "well, no". He said "exactly, our stylists are trained professionals and are extremely good at what they do". He as well as the stylist let her know that we can fix whatever she doesn't like, and will of course fix it for no extra charge, but she still has to pay for the original service. She wouldn't let her fix it, because obviously she liked it. If she really had a problem with it, she would have let someone fix it. She just wouldn't listen, and said something like, "do you not think I have money?" She started rummaging through her purse as if she were to show us money, but failed to show any type of payment. This is my first encounter with a gypsy and it made me SO mad. The manager flat out said to her, "just get out!" We tried to call her after she left, and the number she gave us was fake. I'm sure her name "Mary Evans" was fake as well. I hate people sometimes.
