"What did you do over Christmas"' they're going to be asking, just as they've been saying "what are you doing for Christmas" all week. "Spending time with family" is the brush-off answer. It's easiest not to be perfectly accurate and add "planning the funeral of the woman who should be sitting at the head of the table".
