I'm fairly certain Castiel doesn't die [directly from this, at least] since there's still 15 chapters left, but that doesn't keep this from being heart-wrenching and terrifying. D:

On the bright side, at least we're getting an excuse for some more Gabriel! Hooray!!!!

More Gabriel! Gaol-break Gabriel! Castiel snarking at Gabriel and Gabriel snarking at Dean and Sam having to just resort to rolling his eyes at everyone! (To be honest, I adore the next chapter. I am very excited about it. :))

I DO NOT KNOW HE MIGHT DIE LET'S SEE except that this is not a death fic and it is labelled both Dean/Castiel and NC-17 for Eventually Getting Around To Having Sex, so... I mean, SUSPENSE!

(Even non-analytical comments are good, because, hey, sometimes I just like flailing and going ALL THE FEELS too. :) It's all about conversation, but not every conversation has to have deep content, so.)

HOORAY FOR GABRIEL!!!!!! I love that man/angel/pagan god/whatever he wants to be at the moment. And now I'm super excited for all the snark that comes with him. <3

That's why I said he isn't dying at this moment. There's 15 more chapters he has to be in (including for sex!), but there's also 15 more chapters for him to fall into other peril to die of. D:

I want all the things. Dean is so damned smart and so stupid at the same time, he's driving me crazy. Surely Sam isn't going to leave the only people who know he's more than a dog, no matter how confining the village is? And yeah, Sam has that way of believing that anything at all, however gut-wrenching, can be fruitfully discussed. It's a flaw. But he's not one of those troll-arguers, "ha ha, you're getting all emotional, I win." He just... there's stuff he's not afraid of, and that stuff includes having a deep intellectual discussion while standing in an emotional inferno. He just has a high pain tolerance in that particular direction

No, Sam just genuinely deeply believes that everyone should talk it out in painful depth and he can Fix Things that way, possibly with big staring earnest eyes. And then hugs.

Which doesn't really work on everyone. Especially when you've killed their brother.

Dean just drives me crazy consistently throughout this whole story. It's a thing. :)

The function follows form idea is an interesting question, because I actually wrote this chapter not long before [Spoiler (click to open)]Bobby's ghost came back and that became a major question in canon. If I do an extra from Sam's point of view (beyond the single-scene one-shot that I've got sitting around for the Sabriel mini) that will definitely be part of it.

I doubt Sam quite gets it - after all, he doesn't have a frame of reference for homosexuality, any more than Dean does - but he'd definitely class it as romantic (if not sexual), somethign Big and Important that Needs To Be Dealt With, and knows that Dean is just going THIS IS TTLY NORMAL K NOT THINKING ABOUT IT because Dean does that.

The will-o'-the-wisp just decided to turn up, I don't even know.

I could have died when Cas asked “Why are you doing this? All of this? For me.“ It was like reverse canon where Dean is just awesome and not a dick. xD

No, just that he is (sometimes) a dick, and can heal things. :)

Let's just say he hasn't been the model of decorous welcoming behaviour with Gabriel, then?
