Ok, another quick post regarding gay marriages.
I'm sitting here watching American Idol's "out-takes" episode (which is too damn funny...) and, during a commercial break, I flipped channels and fell on CNN. A leader of some African American group (didn't get the name of the group) was talking out against gay marriages.
I am always stunned - downright blown away - when I see a black person who is anti-gay rights. How can someone who is part of a group who faced oppression, prejudice, and bigotry be against the rights of all people? Do they completely fail to see the similarities with their own history? I'm offended that they shit on the efforts of those who came before them and strove to create a world in which they could be treated fairly, like a human being just like anyone else rather than a second-class citizen. It disgusts me.
I am willing to concede that some people are going to disagree with me that marriage is right all adults should have, regardless of race, religion, sex, etc. I understand their points even if I strongly disagree with them. If you are part of a group that has faced and fought against oppression, however, you are a hypocrite. You shit on those who fought on your behalf and gave you the live you now live.
Disgusting.
See what happens when I switch channels from American Idol to CNN...
