Firstly, I am ordering Mysterious Skin THE BOOK tonight and JUST TO WARN YOU ALL. I have this irrational terror that it will COMPLETELY CONTRADICT EVERYTHING IN REQUIESCAT

Haha, I feel the same way as you do about the movie. It's intense and upsetting; and yet, beautifully done.
It's reassuring to hear that the author co-wrote the screenplay xD I think mostly I'm worried about little background details though, like I would totally have assumed that Neil's dad was some deadbeat/one-night stand (based on his mom's track record and their sharing the same last name made me think he was born out of wedlock), but apparently his dad is dead? Like, WHAT ELSE DID I ASSUME WRONG? WHAT IF I HAD MENTIONED HIS DAD SOMEWHERE?! FAIL
But oh my gosh that dog, haha, I'm seriously curious about its parentage because I always picture Sam as a little beagle/Jack Russell mutt and that dog is spot on! I think too much about Eames' imaginary dog, sigh.
Totally! Actually I'm sitting on one right now that's almost done but is like ... 16,000 words already. I am embarrassed at how long it is. The Wingman-verse is my own little domestic-verse, it makes me happy. xD
The book is worth the read, definitely. I don't think there's anything that contradicts the movie very much, just a few details. And then some additional details here and there (e.g. Neil drives an Impala. XD)
