A Post Containing Swearing

Apr 10, 2008 22:14

Hello! Witch here, way too scatterbrained/busy/sick/tired/depressed/insane for a real post. So here's a reminder that I still exist, plus a little distraction from all the not-fun-at-all stuff I'm dealing with off-camera.

News tidbit: The Thomas Jefferson Center for the Protection of Free Expression said police in Scranton, Pennsylvania had no right to issue a disorderly conduct citation to Dawn Herb, who "let loose a tirade of foul language" directed at her toilet. A neighbor who was an off-duty police officer made a complaint.

Look folks, there is nothing wrong with swearing at an overflowing toilet. Foul language is appropriate under the circumstances. Bear in mind that if her tirade included the use of the word "shit", that's not swearing, that's description.

Speaking of foul language, the Octopad and I just watched our new copy of the movie "Four Weddings and a Funeral". One of the things I love about this movie is that "Fuck!" is all anyone says for the first five minutes.

My favourite character in this movie is Gareth. At his funeral, his partner mentions his penchant for experimental cooking, and says that "fortunately, the recipe for Duck A La Banana goes with him to his grave". Now, considering that Gareth is an outspoken, jocular, outrageous flaming queer, I ask you to ponder the concept of "Duck A La Banana", and imagine to yourself what his serving presentation would be. Got the mental image? Thought so. Good luck getting it out of your head.
