Rekindling the past...

Who says you can never go back?

It’s been so many months since we parted way. I had had big dreams for you, and somehow, they faded away. I know it’s probably mostly my fault, I got distracted, saw shiny things and suddenly, whenever I looked at you I saw nothing but mistakes and faults. So I made bigger plans that had no room for you. I callously buried you, and all my emotions about you and you never saw the light until now.

After such a long absence the faults didn’t seem so bad, they were more character quirks really. It didn’t seem so hard to imagine you lying on a sofa some where and cuddling up.
But how to being again? I hadn’t left any crib notes about where we stood with each other, but I guess at some point, one needs to just take the plunge…

So I dragged the blue blanket of cable-y goodness out of its hidey hole and began working with it again. It was a little tricky to figure out where I was in the pattern, but fortunately I know the pattern now pretty well having already used it for the gift blanket to Mr. Mochizuki - a blanket I should stay was started long after this first one was made and was also finished over a month ago…

After one false start I figured out where I was - good ol’ row 7 and got out my cable needle. As much as I know that Spooner’s blanket should have priority and that I should also be practicing my Enchanting Scarf for the Ravelry Olympics, or swatching (again!)for another baby blanket, I just needed a change of pace. I guess I need a good dose of cabling every now and then, but I should remember that that doesn’t make me a cabling expert and that I should glance at the pattern now and again during the first 10 rows. The first swatch for the baby blanket… ummm… those cables are rather ‘free-style’…
