Two is becoming one of my favourite ages. For the most part Hunter isn't going through the "terrible twos". We have some frustrating moments but that's more based on his slow speech than tantrums.
He's becoming such his own person though. It's so amazing to watch this budding independence and development. It's hard to explain but it very much feels like he's grown in leaps and bounds since even three months ago, where he was fairly quiet and into his own thing and still fairly 'babyish'. Now he's very much a little boy it feels. The interaction between him and I has changed so much. Instead of it being a matter of me doing everything while he says nothing or yells jibberish (basically a one sided conversation) it's very much two-way now. He wants to help out a lot more, he communicates more clearly every week about his wants and he's just so much more "there". I feel like I'm talking and interacting with a very real person now, as opposed to a baby.
He's picking up more words every day pretty much. And he really understands everything you ask of him from "Find your shoes" to "Go see ___." to "Do you want ___?" He remembers and understands routines as well. Such as we wash hands before meals so he'll automatically go find the stool for the sink. When we're done he'll automatically walk back to his highchair and wait for me to come and put him in it. Then I'll ask him what he wants and usually it only takes a minute or two to figure out. A huge change from sitting and wailing for food until it's right in his mouth with no communication about what kind of food he wants.
It's very lovely. :-) He's such a sweetie.
