I'm watching "Winged Migration" on Animal Planet for the first time. I'm bawling on my couch now because I just watched a sequence where these beautiful parrots are flying through a jungle along a river. Suddenly a camera pans to a boat going down the river carrying cages filled with monkeys and parrots and the monkeys looked SO sad. It was tragic

Yeah, we *are* getting old aren't we? I remember thinking how unfair it was that Marlin Perkins sent his young assistant (Jim) in for a closer look, which always seemed to put him in peril. I always wanted Jim to say, "why don't you go get a closer look at those lions for once Marlin?!"

I watched Winged Migration and March of the Penguins within a few weeks of each other... i think my tear ducts wanted to kill me for that great idea.

I'm glad I'm not the only softie out there! I haven't seen 'March', but I've seen enough about penguins that I know not all babies make it, often because the fathers are starving, and may choose to abandon their post because of this. Then there's the seals and other predators who eat penguin mommies...:(
