i've heard repeatedly over the last week that it's an outrage that the public is more upset about michael vick hurting dogs than it is when athletes harm other humans. the leonard little case, where the star defensive end killed a woman while he was driving drunk, is often cited as an example of this.

how about this, though. if michael vick had drunkenly run over one dog, people wouldn't care nearly as much as they did about little killing a woman. likewise, if leonard little had forced dozens of people to fight in cages, and tortured and executed people who fared poorly, the outrage would have been at least a little more vehement than the furor over michael vick. i think, anyway.
