Before Volkswagen would hire Ben, he needed to do a final interview at their headquarters in Munich. He parents and Anna kept asking him over the phone what the result was, but he waited until he was back in the USA before he sat down with them at dinner and told them the news.
He had blown the competition out of the water and was their #1 pick - and obviously he had said yes. Ben had even managed to find an
apartment before he left, putting down a deposit and a move in date in September.
He knew it was a quick move, but he and Anna still had yet to even set a date for their wedding beyond being in the following year, so it would give them a chance to make sure this job worked for them since they would end up spending a good portion of their married life there.

It wasn't as easy to move into a furnished apartment as one would think. The furniture was there, but not the things that would make the apartment a home. They could have shipped the things they had overseas, but most of it would be cheaper to just buy new when they got there. But there were still enough boxes that filled their tiny two room apartment that Ben found himself hiding in the bedroom with his laptop to avoid the boxes that screamed to still be unpacked.
