I hesitated about whether to post this here. One the one hand, the story is written in Jim Kirk's point of view, and clearly has a lot to say about him. On the other hand, this story was explicitly inspired by my dismay about widespread portrayals of Winona Kirk as neglectful and/or abusive (or at least tolerant of abuse.) At the end of the day, the story is about her - about how she defined her son and not the other way around, about the challenges she faced and the solutions she came up with. I sure think it belongs here, and I hope you do, too.
Title: Stealing Space
Rating: Pg-13, mostly for language.

Summary: James Tiberius Kirk is the only genius-level repeat offender in the Midwest - three offenses, if you want to be specific. Well, three where he got caught, anyhow. Maybe he does enjoy them, or at least their aftermath.
