Spoilerfears/TV/Ghost Town

  1. If anyone spoils the final cylon for me, I will kick your ass so hard, I swear to god. Seriously, this is like the most epic thing that could ever be spoiled (besides like, the end of Harry Potter or Obama being elected), and my life will be just slightly ruined if it happens.
  2. I've been feeling really into TV lately and it makes me happy. Like, I'm finding that I actually give a shit about new episodes of House, and I'm pretty excited about 24 too, which is just like...fond memories of TV addiction. I've been watching Scrubs which is kind of cute because it reminds me of the days when I wasn't allowed to stay up after Friends to watch it, but I would always secretly watch the first scene before the credits with my dad, and we would be so bummed that we couldn't keep going because it looked so hilarious. I think I stopped watching later when they switched it over to Tuesdays back during season 2 or 3, and since then I've usually only really watched it in syndication. So it's been nice to watch it for real. I kind of feel like I have a sense of structure with TV that I haven't had since the year before the writer's strike, before 24 started failing at life. I'm sort of excited but also nervous because I'd much rather focus on school and catch up with TV during the summer. But I also haven't really been getting into fandoms, which is super helpful. I used to just add a zillion people and all the communities when I found a new show, but I've been avoiding that with Tina/30 Rock and with my increasing enjoyment of House.

On that note, I must say this: it's really weird to be obsessed with shows because of the shows themselves and not some authoritative, bitchy female character on them. It makes me ridiculously nostalgic. I mean, for me it used to only be Friends every week...then I added in Scrubs and Will & Grace, and it was fantastic and innocent until the next fall, when I was only watching Will & Grace for Megan, and I started watching 24 for Wendy Crewson and ER for Laura Innes. Then it was 24 for Sarah, 24 for Reiko, The West Wing for Stockard, BSG for Mary, 24 for Jean, and a bunch of other less epic times in between and after. It became less about being happy and entertained and more about feeding my addiction and doing whatever I could to feel less inadequate from week to week. Hopefully that's over now. Whatever this is, I like it and it's so much less pressure than the other thing.
  3. I just watched Ghost Town and it was so much better than I thought it would be. Seriously, it was...really sweet and incredibly well-written. I don't seem to enjoy comedy films anymore; they always seem less funny than television, or the R-rated jokes/dumbass characters turn me off. But this one totally surprised me. Aww.
