So im kind of pissed after having a closer look around my kitchen today. I found my brita filter in the sink, and it had been broken (presumably during the party the other night). Not only was it broken, but it was broken in such a way that have no idea how somebody could have broken it by accident. It looked like someone had taken the top part off the pitcher and just ripped the filter right off. I dont know who did it, or why, or how, but i am pretty pissed about it. Those things are like 20 bucks.
I guess it wouldn't be so bad if this wasn't the kind of thing that happened all the time. Someone also broke the spaghetti server at the party, and a bunch of other kitchen utensils were in the living room. Again, i don't know who or why, but its pretty fucked up to go to somebody's house for a party and just break shit.
It also sucks that, over the course of the year, about one-half to two-thirds of my glassware has been broken. Understandable, yes, but it was mine, i paid for it, and now i don't have it anymore because somebody didn't take proper care of it (why would they, it isn't their's, after all). Also, there is apparently a dishes strike going on under my nose. Besides myself and our cleaning lady, Roberta, nobody does the dishes (Mary did a bunch when she stayed over, thanks mary) and when people actually do do the dishes, they do a poor job or don't empty the dish drainer.
I just don't understand why people don't just treat the common areas with a little bit more respect and an attitude of responsibility. Now i am certainly not perfect in this area, as i tend to leave stuff in the living room and don't always clean up after myself, but i make an attempt to do so, and there is a difference between something like leaving a sweatshirt in the living room and something likke breaking somebody's stuff or never doing the dishes or always leaving the leftover coffee (and grounds) in the french press. Im just kind of fed up, i guess.
