The door is opened by the man of the house himself, rather than the family butler as would be customary - or at least, as used to be customary.

Wesley's father smiles with uncharacteristic warmth on seeing his son, gesturing for him to come inside.

"Come in, boy. We've been expecting you some time, now."

If Wesley wasn't suspicious before, he is now.

"Hello, Father. My flight was delayed," he explains as he steps inside the house, mustering a faint smile in return, playing the game. "I trust you're well? And Mother?"

"I'm just fine, dear." His mother emerges from a nearby door, setting a slender volume down on a nearby side table and approaching him with open arms. A warm hug and an air kiss, and she pats his cheek.

"It is good to see you, Wesley. Oh my, perhaps you ought to shave -- you are terrible scruffy."

He chuckles at the little joke.

"Prepare us some tea, Mother, while Wesley and I have a chat?"
