Clay-Art Fantasy Book

When I was little, sometime in the mid-2000's, I saw a book at the library that I never forgot but was never able to find.
It was a fantasy-genre book from somewhere between the late 80's-early 2000's, quite large and thick, with (I think) a brown cover? It had photos of clay model creatures and backdrops frequently spaced throughout. The main character was a small brown goblin/gnome/troll, who seemed to be a solitary child. There was a tall white fairy/elf woman who lived somewhere snowy, and the mc went to visit a bipedal creature with an ear horn. I remember way more of the visuals than the story, but I believe it was about the goblin boy mc going on a quest, during which he meets the aforementioned characters. I believe the fairy woman was important to the plot.
The styling of the creatures was dark crystal-esque, with large wide-set eyes, small, perky noses, and wide, beaky mouths. The clothes were made of fabric and fur, the backdrops of scavenged natural material and set dressing material.
I've done a lot of digging over the years and have never been able to find this, so I hope I can get the chance to read it!

Edit: Found. I brought it up to my older sister offhandedly and the jerk has the mind of a steel trap. It was The Winter Child by Terri Windling and Wendy Froud.
