Yep, it's a song-help question. :p
I was at the store earlier and heard a song I recognised from when I was a kid, so I pulled out my phone to record a clip so I could look for it later. Unfortunately, however, there was too much background noise as well so when I listened to the clip, it was just garbled noise. And now I have a different song stuck in my head, so I can't think of how the song I want to find goes. But here's what I have to go on:
- It's from either the '70s or '80s
- Male singer, possibly black?
- Upbeat tempo (sounded kind of Stevie-Wonder-ish but was [probably] not Stevie Wonder)
- I remember the word "burning" in the chorus, but I don't remember the context (although I think it was either "burning love/[my] love is burning" or "burning desire"). Also I think I hear the word "baby" (kind of drawn out a little?) in the garbly recording, which probably doesn't help much as that's literally all I can make out. (note: it is not Elvis' "hunk of burning love")
- I remember hearing it on the soft-rock radio station my parents listened to when I was a kid, back in the '80s. Dunno if that helps, but it'll probably narrow down genres a bit.
- (edit) I think the lyrics had to do with either asking somebody to come back, or being happy that that person is back. But I'm not certain on either count.
edit: Found! It's The Spinners' "Working My Way Back To You Babe".
