1.Please help me remember: what was the name of a short TV-series (probably mid-80s') about teens with problems? The first one sounds like ABC After School specials and IMDB says he was in two eps, one of which fits your description. The episode is called A Family of Strangers.

I'm pretty sure your second one is Incredible Story Studio. I loved that show growing up!

I think the TV-series I saw started before 97, probably 94-95. In the intro there were dozens of letters flying in the air or something like that...
And it wasn't for teen-agers, it was for kids 11-12 years of age.
