This is probably incredibly vague but what I remember:
- emo(ish) band similar to finch or saves the day
- lyrics about someone with a "gun" & "die" only in the beginning
- song came out somewhere between 2008 - 2010
I'll take any help I can get at this point. Google has failed me
FOUND! ...I'm lucky enough to have found it on an old hard drive. Wow I was way off. No wonder.
It was The Working Title "The Crash"
