I hope this is the place to ask this...
Years ago when my kids were little, I once tried playing one of their computer games (and wouldn't they like me to do that now!). Anyway, the part I am thinking of was a room with clickable items in it, for example clicking on the clock might take you to the time-telling game, or on a dresser would open the drawer, or on a stuffed monkey who would squeak or do a dance.
Basically they were things to hold the attention of a 4 year old (or her mom) until they figured out how to play the game.
What are those clickable objects called in a game?

I want to use this name in an analogy for adults, to point out that there are things which transform into something more interesting when you give them the right sort of attention, as in: "When you click on the ________ it might turn into a gem"
