So, when I was in China (5 years ago, I don't know if that will matter or not) we were served some kind of... I assume it was a vegetable. It was white, and I think it was a root vegetable. It was served in slices, about as big around a slice of orange might be, maybe a little bigger, but they weren't solid, they had holes in them, like the way Swiss cheese does, though the holes were smaller.
The slices were crisp when bitten, not mushy or anything, but I'm not sure if they were cooked or raw. I remember them being tasty, but I can't remember exactly what they tasted like.
It was late June/early July, and I was in Beijing, Xian, and Qufu, (though I can't remember which city I ate it in) if that helps at all.
I would really like to see if I could find this veggie in America, but I have no idea what it was and nothing on Google has looked right.
