 This might be a hard one. It's either a painting/drawing or a sculpture, I'm leaning towards the latter, but I haven't actually seen it. Only heard about it. It's supposedly a mother with dead babies at her feet, one live baby on her lap, and grandmother on her knee, and the mom is breastfeeding the grandmother.

Sounds disturbing, but I think it is related to the asian and/or african way of respecting the elders - when it comes down to hard choices, it's the ones you respect the most that you try and keep alive. You can always have new babies, but the grandma has lived several decades and she represents all the family traditions and the ancestors and you can't let her die, because she can't be replaced. Or something like this was told when someone spoke about this sculpture.
