Tori Amos weekend #1 (Indy & Detroit)
(I apologize for the long entry but i can't get the GD lj cut to work - psst Amanda it just hates me! sad!)
What a weekend! I have been so incredibly busy with work that I have not been able to update this as timely as I would have liked - so here I am, one day before I leave for more shows again. Better late than never.
On a side note, I have secured fan club tickets to see Pearl Jam in Philadelphia on halloween! I am also going the night before but do not have fan club tickets because I waited too long to figure that I was going to go so YAY 2 more shows and before that PJ on the 24th! Eeeeeee! I love this swap of ed solo, tori shows, pearl jam shows. Perfect!
So anyways. No boring details about the insane drive to Indianapolis with the ridiculous traffic all the way from Nashville. The good news is that I got there 10 minutes after the M&G started. There was no M&G in Detroit so it was my shot. I gathered up with friends Maria, Erin and Stephen who were close to the end of the line and also trying to talk to Tori. I have no idea why I was such a ball of nerves, but I was! I couldn't calm down and enjoy being around old friends that I hadn't seen in years until afterwards and I had settled down. I literally threw the car in park and walked right into the M&G which was nerve wracking enough. So I get up there and wait for the person to go before me (almost a single file line - which was nice because there was a good 3 feet between who Tori is talking to at the next person, so noone was over hearing your conversation and breathing down your neck).
The girl in front of me walks away and Missy motions me forward asking me to get out what I want signed and my camera for a picture: I need neither I tell her. As I walk up to Tori I see this look on her face like "oh thank god you're here and i finally get to see you" while she was reaching out to hug me. it was priceless really.
she said, "it's soooo good to see you dani! You have no idea" and then we chatted for a while which is personal so i won't go into. she was super animated and hugged me again mid conversation. it was a good talk.
Afterwards we went to eat, catch up and chat before the show as always. I had brought my homemade pickles (from the cucumbers in my garden) to give to Erin and both her and Matt page tried them. So happy she loved them and wish i could bring more to nj/pa this weekend. bah.

highlights/lowlights:
-front and center again
-ireland was good live - really good. i am not a fan of it on the album for sure
-bells. i don't care what anyone else says i love it i love it i love it
-peeping tommi - that came from nowhere!
-cooling with the brambles was gorgeous and touching
-gold dust was for mel and i'm so happy she got it. it normally doesn't so this but it made me a bit weepy.
-horses - i really really wish that she'd do the plugged version of horses with darkness and the "TOOOOOOO" at the end. probably never again. it was still wonderful!
-fast horse - was totally excited to hear this live since i didn't in durham and i have to say that i like it better on the cd. something doesn't translate right with it.
-strong black vine. i could go on for DAYS about this song and demon Tori - love it. LOVE.
-raspberry swirl YESSSSSSSSSS
-big wheeler - while everyone thinks she should hang this up it's fun live and we like to endulge her in her fun.
i really enjoyed the show quite a bit.
Michigan - the seventh circle of hell. My least favorite state and one of my least favorite cities. what a shithole really. I have no idea how i always end up goign to shows there...oh it was a weekend! well, detroit rock city proved to be an incredible show - so a teeny bit of hate of that place lifted.
the drive up was fun - random mix cd's left in the car by previous renter, then random mix cd's of mine, teaching john how to use a tampon, friendly's ice cream! good stuff.

-show paparatizi - what the fuck? i have no idea how people can be inthe front few rows and just sit/stand there and take photo after photo in her face. terribly annoying.

-PANCAKE! with the ohio bridge that is tremendous!
-i didn't know what martha's foolish ginger was until half way through the song haha oops!
-i love watching her play concertina, it really shows of her skills
-seaside was beautiful and done for those holding a vigil in Tel Aviv that night. she changed the 5th of Dec lyrics to the first of August.
-land in blue. love this live SO MUCH.
-sugar i nearly lost my shit over
-talula just pushed me way over the edge at that moment. SO good to hear it again. I love that every tour she does it it transforms usually and i love that i didn't have to ask her "where the fuck is talula?" again like in 2003 on my brithday (which was still good because she played it in phoenix the next night!).
-strong black vine was incredible freak out. john and i were spazzing out over it.
-cals yet another love.
such a good show. afterwards i was like "I LOVE DETROIT!" two solid shows. long drive home the next day - but absolutely worth it.
