So here I sit at work, wolfing down a calzone and trying to at least write something in my attempts to remain at least somewhat creative. I've been pretty grumpy the past few days. The kids are struggling to adjust to the rigors of our new routine. Babygirl is clingy, Daughter is weepy and sassy, and the Boy, well, he is dressing like Napoleon ( Read more... )

Sometimes happy is just having the job and the calzone, and the foul mouthed boy, sassy girl, and clingy babygirl to come home to. Happiness is having the means to acquire that bottle of bourbon, or friends who are happy to share theirs! I believe that we are lucky when the happiness in our lives comes in big fat chunks, because usually it comes our way in a series of small moments that we quite frequently take for granted. I don't honestly think that the bug deserves your forgiveness or that you need to give that to him -- I believe that if you forgive yourself for sticking around so long and taking the shit from him and realize that his problems are his problems and not yours and not a reflection of the person you are, then the bitterness will subside. Look for the small moments to appreciate, practice smile therapy, and remember that people who are generous in giving to you aren't entirely magnanomous -- the stuff that you give back is just as valuable, necessary, and important.

.. is one of the seven dwarves too! Take ownership of your grumpiness. It is a part of you just as much as Happy, Sneezy, Sleepy, Dopey, Bashful, and Doc. Some growing pains are understandable and natural as you and and squids adjust to a new life. Remember... Grumpy isn't bad, but can be energetic. The challenge is not suppressing Grumpy, but channeling her/your energy productively.

Cheers!
