Nick is starting to get accustomed to the only real warning before Alya drops in on him being a quick call from her secretary to make sure he's not busy. He has yet to really spend more than a few moments properly in the woman's company, but he's getting very good at recognizing her voice.
So when he gets in from the office - a little perturbed, honestly, his last appointment was...unnerving - he already knows he should probably expect the most well-mannered hurricane he's ever met within the hour, and doesn't make other plans. He's got a bit of paperwork to get through, and with the radio on in the background he picks through it, sitting in the open door out to the balcony and smoking, waiting for the kettle to boil.
