Saw Pan's Labyrinth last night.

I left the theatre speechless. I was still fairly inarticulate by the time I got home, although the usual Everything Is A Christian Allegory Except When It's Not argument broke out. Even now, I don't think I can describe to you just how much you need to see this movie. It is hard and tragic and sharp and dark and ! This is the first movie I have ever seen that captured what fairytales are really about. Fairytales are not always butterflies and rainbows and sparkles. Fairytales are dark, and cruel, and ancient. And not everything is fair, but in the end, everyone gets what they deserve. But really, please, see this movie. You may want to bring someone to cling to for a few of the scenes (although curling up into a little ball on the seat worked all right for me). But you will leave at least a little awed.

The night before was spent... well, not sleeping, that's for sure. Mark and Andrew and I played Halo 2 for hours and hours, proving that I am not to be trusted, ever, because I do not mind if I die so long as I get to take you with me. Also, that multiple rocket launchers are mutually assured destruction, and that this is not a deterrent to using them simultaneously. There was lots of poking, growling, tipping Mark like a cow, energy drinks, powdered donuts, experiments with Peeps, DDR-induced comas, and in general much chaos. We'll definitely need to be doing it again.

It appears to be snowing up at the moment. It's a bit disconcerting.
