Since one of the major appeals of crocking is the time it can save, I bet this group has some excellent time saving tips for food preparation. Let's hear them!
Here are a couple of mine:
Whenever I make Taco Soup in my crock, I always brown and season twice the amount of ground beef that I need for the recipe and freeze half of it. This way, I can make a a batch of Taco Soup again in a hurry without having to brown and season the beef first. Obviously this would work just as well for stew meat.
I have a family recipie for a basic marinara sauce that I make by the VAT. I freeze it in several different portion sizes so that there is always a size that suits my recipe needs. It works wonderfully for any crock recipe that calls for a tomato based pasta sauce. It is also delicious by itself and extremely versatile. Everything I serve with tomato sauce started with this sauce, more or less.
Now, let's hear yours! I LOVE to cook and I HATE to prep, so I am always looking for ways to make prep easier.
