Chicken In Wine

1 can cream of mushroom soup (undiluted)
1 can French Onion soup (undiluted)
1 cup white wine
2 lbs of boneless skinless chicken breasts.

Combine first three ingredients in crock pot. I use Campbell soups. Place chicken in cook on low 6 to 8 hours.

I normally serve this over mashed potatoes.

you need some sort of liquid in there. I use cooking wine it doesnt have to be a bottle of decent wine.

If you dont have wine use chicken broth or even water. The wine gives it that extra zing though.

yes you probably could cook potatoes in there as well. Though I tend to cook my separate so I have something cut the zing and the salt from cooking liquid.

I never cook with "cooking wine". Cooking wine is wine that has been heavily salted so that grocery stores don't need a liquor license to sell it. When I cook with wine, I cook with WINE... sometimes I even put it in the food! :D

When they make actual wine in a size that is acceptable for cooking I will be more then happy to use good wine. Until then a 750 ml bottle of wine would just go to waste as I am the only in the house that drinks and I am not about to drink a whole bottle of wine myself minus the maybe one glass I use for cooking.

After reading this, I realized I nearly had all the ingredients and went for it. No canned French onion though - I went with a packet.

It was great. I removed the chicken and cooked egg noodles in the sauce. Lots of folks loved it (I got 5 roommates).

Loved your recipe!!
