Summary: Fluffy little piece about Edin playing with Aleks’ daughter.

For lalalalynds, the best Dzeklarov shipper in the world.

Aleks wakes to the sound of pots clattering and people giggling. Groaning, he pulls the pillow over his head to block out the already risen sun. He reaches out blindly, trying to find the other person in the bed to pull close, but the spot next to him is already vacated and cold. Cracking an eye open, he moves the pillow enough to see 10:03am glaring an angry red at him from his alarm clock. He hears the shrill whistle of the tea kettle and a high pitched voice he doesn’t recognize. Cursing under his breath, he gets out of bed and shuffles to the bathroom.

By the time he’s had a shower, the house has taken on the aroma of something sweet. Snow is pouring down outside and he sees a few inches have already accumulated. There’s still a lot of giggling. Creeping slowly down the stairs, he peeks into the kitchen and has to slap a hand over his mouth to keep from laughing. Taking a moment to compose himself, he steps into the kitchen.

“I’m a little hurt I wasn’t invited,” he deadpans.

Una shrieks and flies across the kitchen, hugging her father’s legs. She’s wearing a bubblegum pink princess dress and a crown. Aleks sees that she even has a matching apron he doesn’t remember buying and he’s pretty sure he knows who bought it for her.

“Daddy! The Sugar Plum Fairy Princess Edina and I made tea and cookies!” She proudly shows Aleks a plate of the ugliest and unappetizing looking Christmas cookies he’s ever seen. “Will you have tea with us?”

Aleks can’t hold it back any longer and laughter spills from his lips. Edin is sitting at the table with a purple, feathery crown on his head and a matching feather boa. The cherry on top is the glittering pair of purple and pink wings they’ve managed to pin to his back albeit lopsidedly. He laughs so hard he gets the hiccups.

“Daddy!” Una stomps her foot. “You’re going to make the Fairy Princess mad.”

“… I wouldn’t… want… to make… the fairies mad,” Aleks has to bite his lip to keep from laughing even harder. “Sorry Princess Edina.” Edin glares at him.

Una scowls up at her father and tells him he’s rude and no longer welcomed at the Princess tea. She’s strong for a four year old, and he lets her push him from the room. He waits in the hall until his hiccups subside and then peers back around the entrance of the kitchen. Edin is politely dabbing at his mouth with a napkin as Una pours him more tea. She’s smiling widely as Edin squeaks in his attempt to sound like a girl and nods her head rapidly as he fills her in with gossip from the Sugar Plum Kingdom. There’s a smile on Aleks’ face and a tug on his heart as he watches them interact.

“Princess Edina?” Una gazes up at Edin with a mix of hero worship and shyness on her face. “I’m glad you live here now.”

“I’m glad too, Princess Una,” he tells her, dorky smile that Aleks loves large on his face. He looks out the window, “I think there’s enough snow to build a snowman now.”

Una claps her hands and squeals. Excusing herself from the table, she races from the room to change out of her play clothes. Edin laughs and calls out to the hallway to tell Aleks he can stop lurking in the shadows. Aleks snickers as he reenters the kitchen and watches Edin take his costume off. Before Edin can scold him for laughing, Aleks pulls him down for a kiss. Edin’s mouth is sweet and tastes like overly sugared tea and frosting. It’s a nice, slow, and long kiss until Edin bites Aleks’ lip.

“What was that for?” Aleks glares at Edin as the sound of Una thundering down the stairs echoes behind them.

“For laughing at Princess Edina,” Edin informs him with a sadistic little giggle.

“Are you ready Mr. Polar bear?” Una waits for Edin to put on his coat before she reaches up for him.

“Yes ma’am! Who are you now?” Edin asks her as he sets her on his shoulders and slips on his shoes.

“Captain Una! The bravest explorer-warrior-archeologist in the world!” She exclaims.

The door slides shut behind them. Aleks watches from dry warmth of the house as they run around the backyard, constructing snowmen to be villains they later destroy. Una is riding around on Edin’s back, he’s her war polar bear, and if Aleks can hear them giggling through the window, he’s sure the entire neighborhood can. The snow continues to fall, large wet flakes that make it seem like a blizzard.

They trudge back inside two hours later, wet, exhausted, and frozen, but still laughing. Una isn’t in dry clothes for more than five minutes before she falls asleep in front of the TV. Aleks carries her upstairs and by the time he gets back, Edin is asleep too. Chuckling to himself, Aleks throws a blanket over Edin and leans down to kiss him on the forehead.

“The Prince kisses the Princess on the lips to wake her up,” Edin murmurs, apparently not asleep.

“I’m not a Prince,” Aleks grins as he presses his lips against Edin’s.

“That’s okay,” Edin’s smile is heavy with sleep as he pulls Aleks down on top of him, “I’m not a princess anymore.” Aleks laughs.

Edin’s chest rises and falls at a slower and slower rate until he finally falls asleep. Not soon after, Aleks follows, smile still on his lips.
