Another year is come and gone. Another year of not feeling like much actually happened. Funny how that works, isn’t it?
It’s actually been a big year for me. Life-changing, if not life-shattering. I was told in March that my marriage was over; the divorce was finalized just before Thanksgiving. My car was totaled in April; then un-totaled in May; then I found out it should have been totaled all along, but they’d already fixed it, so I got it back anyway. I made new friends; I lost old friends. I found new hobbies; I gave up some old ones. It’s been busy.
But going into the new year, what I’m thinking about most is the time I’ve wasted. This has not been a very good year for me, and I have spent way too much time wallowing in misery and self-pity. And that needs to stop. I have things that really, desperately need doing. So it’s time to do them, I suppose.
So in that vein, my New Year’s Resolutions:
- Lose 60 lbs. 5 a month is reasonable, right? But it needs to be done. Desperately.
- Organize all my belongings, and get rid of anything I won’t reasonably use and everything that I really don’t have space for.
- Read all the books I own but haven’t read. And my shelves are so full of them.
- Find my own home. Build that huge table I’ve been wanting and have everyone over weekly or so.
- Pay off all my debts. Close my credit cards. Save.
