There is something very wrong when Americans are left on rooftops to die while we spend billions fighting for the freedom of people who hate us. Let the dead of New Orleans haunt Mr. Bush forever.
Our government owes us all that much as a minimum. It is horrible to be connected to the internet and to read the opinions of people around the world about the fact that we can't take care of ourselves all the time that we force our views on other people.
It was so predicable. Every time I went to New Orleans I would get the same lecture from every tour guide or cabby, "Those are our famous levys New Orleans is below sealevel. One day a storm will come and knock down the levys and we will be under water." THEY ALL FUCKING NEW THIS WOULD HAPPEN!! And yet no measures were taken to secure the levys or at the very least evacuate the city, poor people too. The fact that they had no money to leave is unforgivable. A few million of our tax dollars for buses would have saved a lot of lives. America should be ashamed of it self. Mr. Bush needs to take a look at our needs before he spends our hard earned money defending the freedom of others.
I feel bad too. I have been there quite a few years ago. Oak Alley Plantation is where they filmed IWTV. I know it will never be the same again. I blame our government for what happened too.
Oak Alley is a big part of film history. When I was there I noticed that the levy was just across the road. I thought at the time that it was miraculous that it withstood storms with only that little hill to protect it. Possibly it was spared. I guess we won't know for a long, long time. But I do have hopes that New Orleans will make a come back. They are too much a part of history to just disappear.
I added you to my friends list yesterday. I didn't realize that I hadn't before. When I wrote in your LJ name it made me think of the movie. It was on of my favorites. I read the book years ago and the movie was great. When I was in N.O. last time I went out to that cemetery to look for Lestat.
