The lobby was doing a pretty good impression of a tropical beach when Mary-Jean finally came down from her room. The zombie thing had ended in a nasty way, and all she'd wanted (after checking in on the sphinx) was to scrub her skin off in a shower and sleep for a week. Mary-Jean's initial reaction to a hotel full of zombies was 'burn it to the ground'...the problem with that being somewhere in the rambling structure was a kid. She wasn't sure the sphinx baby every left this place. It was stupid to assume the little girl was still alive. The door slides open just a crack, and in from the pouring rain stalks one slim black cat. Very daintily the cat steps over the threshold, shaking each paw in turn to rid it of extra moisture. It then sits down firmly and starts washing its face unselfconsciously.

Cleanliness is the height of perfection.
