Beth and I went to Nashville over the weekend for our first anniversary. There was a deal with the Opryland Hotel that if you bought a night during the month of your anniversary, you would get another night free. So, that's what we did.
After taking about thirty minutes finding our room through the maze of elevators, ramps, stairs, and atriums, we decided to explore the hotel a little. We were at least able to find the major areas and how to get to each one.
Saturday, we ate at a breakfast buffet in the hotel, then went to the
Parthenon. I had been there years before, but Beth hadn't been there before. It was neat seeing it again, and Beth was very impressed. Especially with the size of the Athena statue. After that, we went to the mall where Opryland used to be. We found a few things there to get, but for the most part, it was just a mall.
Sunday, we went to the
Hermitage, the home of Andrew Jackson. We spent a lot of time walking around the museum and buildings listening to the audio and reading most of the plaques. Unfortunately, we spent more time there than we had planned, so we didn't have time to go to the
Ryman Auditorium. Maybe another time.
It was a fun anniversary trip, and it wasn't that far away from home.
