What will I miss after we leave Georgia? The Belgians are closing their Atlanta showrooms and warehouse to open new facilities in another state. This is interesting because I never know what is specific to Atlanta in relation to products like food, drinks, shopping, exercise, music, art, etc. An old friend phoned me last week to ask if I knew how ( Read more... )

When I moved from Indiana to Florida in 2004, I never thought I'd miss anything food-wise, since Indiana isn't really known for it's cuisine. I did end up missing the plethora of mom & pop restaurants that northern Indiana has as well as kluski noodles. My mom used to bring a bag of them with her when she visited, to make her Chicken & Noodles for me. However, Kroger in Atlanta started carrying this type of noodle a few years ago surprisingly.

After I moved to Florida and broke up with my boyfriend, I knew no one there. It was tough, especially trying to find activities to do on a limited budget. It's one of the reasons why I took up knitting, because finding a local Stitch and Bitch, would be one way I could meet like minded people as well as keep myself occupied. I was also tempted to join the local Rocky Horror Picture Show group, but their practices never seemed to work out with my crazy work schedule at the time. I also started volunteering at the local science museum, since it would look good on a resume and perhaps help me meet people too.

I'm sure North Carolina will be awesome and you'll quickly find some like minded people. The internet is far more prevalent than it was in 2004, so you can probably find ways to keep yourself busy.

You and John will definitely be missed. Just let me know if you two have the time to come over some night for an absinthe drink before you move.
