*Sigh* They're not going to admit to "True Love" to each other and ride away as a threesome into the TARDIS, are they? Alas.
Doctor! She admitted she LOVED you at Bad Wolf Bay and you're wondering why she's trying to leave?! Doesn't he know that she wants the sort of relationship he now has with Jack, but doesn't want to get in the way?! Idiot Doctor! *hits his head*
Once, he laid it out bluntly: get used to it or go home. Now, it’s clear that he wants her to stay but that the status quo won’t change. She can make her place within this new arrangement, or she can leave.
Is that really what he meant?! Or was Rose just thinking it was what he meant.

Well, I am predicting around eight chapters, so you might just have to be patient ;) Lots of issues to resolve here! Yes, he knows what Rose wants, but he's also conscious - as we saw in chapter 1 - that Jack felt slighted in favour of Rose before, and he still feels guilty about everything he's done to Jack. So lots of reasons, he feels, why he can't start anything with Rose - even if he was ready to admit what he wants ;)
Is that really what he meant?! Or was Rose just thinking it was what he meant.
It is a bit of both - as catsfiction says, he wants to believe he means it. There's a lot of assumptions being made all round :)
I feel so sorry for Rose! I like her to much for her to be the third heel! I wanted that the doctor would make her feel more welcome! Great chapter! update soon!
Thank you! Yes, it's not the welcome home that Rose was expecting or hoping for, but nothing stays the same, after all. She's got to find a place for herself again. As for the Doctor, he's conflicted, for quite a few reasons.
Is this really about the greater good, Doctor? Or is there a touch of little humans growing up that's eating at you? You're very good at picking out his muddled feelings here (much better than he is himself).
Poor old Jack, once again he's the peacemaker, the earthing wire. It's a tough place to be and I hope he won't be too unselfish. Very good look at the three of them as a work in progress, changed by all that they've experienced and learned and prepared to negotiate a new power dynamic, which the Doctor in particular won't accept easily.
It's such a complicated relationship to write about.
The line about Tegan was a real punch in the gut and opens up a whole new minefield - how many other past companions of the Doctor has Jack had to help? There's a great continuity about this, with a couple of moments when the Doctor seems more like Nine than Ten.

Well, your icon says it all, really, doesn't it? This isn't the Rose he lost at Canary Wharf, and he's starting to realise that. He's also horribly conflicted over Jack - as you say, a very complicated relationship. Given that this OT3 begins as Doctor/Jack, it seems to me that it would open a completely different set of problems than one that begins with Doctor/Rose or Rose/Jack - or all together at once.
Yes, right now Jack's the peacemaker. But he's only human and he has feelings too, as you'll see :)
Oh, and I'm so glad that the Tegan part worked for you! I envisage Jack as having met quite a lot of the Doctor's former companions - I referred to that in passing early in Broken Threads - perhaps with the overt purpose of making sure that they're okay and the Doctor's safe from Torchwood, but I'm sure he had his own selfish reasons as well.

As always, thank you so much! :)
