Torchwood: Miracle Day
Just watched Episode 1.
Torchwood, to me, has always been the poor relation of Doctor Who. While there was no new DW, it was fun to watch (mostly), and I (mostly) loved seeing Jack. It did get better with CoE, even with the horrible ending for Jack, but still wasn't as good as the 'mother' series.
How things have changed. Admittedly, my love of DW has crashed and burned with the new Doctor, companions and writing, but Miracle Day episode 1 is one of the most thrilling and enjoyable pieces of television I've seen in the DW franchise. Loved it. Jack, yes - but seeing Gwen and Rhys again (and now I officially like Gwen a lot, regardless of my opinion of her in the past. She's kickarse and brilliant), and even Andy's back! So far the new characters are also holding my attention.
It's going to be fascinating to see Jack vulnerable - in more ways than one - and I'm intrigued to know whether his relationship with Rex will continue antagonistic or whether they'll become allies - and if anyone knows, don't tell me!
