New OT3 community?
I love better_with_3. It's my favourite community, because it features my favourite ship. But... the moderators appear to have been absent for a considerable length of time. Back as far as the Jack/Rose ficathon on available_very, no b_w_3 mod responded to messages, and that was November 2007. More recently, I messaged a mod to try to find out if either of the two remaining maintainers are interested in the comm any more - one maintainer's LJ no longer exists. I've had no reply.
Now, things are just fine at the moment without active maintainers... except that the comm's layout has vanished. However, if LJ management discovers that the comm has no active maintainers it could be deleted at any time. Also, without active maintainers there's no-one to get permission from for pimping stuff, running ficathons and challenges and so on - or to delete obvious spam and inappropriate posts.
One possibility is to start a new community - say, betterwiththree? The advantages to this include:
• Community-run events, such as ficathons, challenges, art and icon contests, seasonal-themed events and so on
• Active moderators who can respond to questions and so on - even though b_w_3 doesn’t attract the kind of issues that can arise on busier comms, it does help to have mods available
• A change of layout! Wouldn’t it be nice to use some of the newer pics of Jack, Rose and the Tenth Doctor? And to bring Nine back into the layout?
I would be willing to start a new community, if there's sufficient interest, though I'd be looking for a couple of co-maintainers. So here's a poll.
