...but then there'd be no Torchwood. Can't have everything, I suppose.

Well, yeah, no Torchwood if this were canon... but I'd have preferred more DW-with-Jack to TW anyway, I'm afraid :( Not enough Jack, other characters I couldn't have cared less about and plots that left a lot to be desired. :/ Okay, the final two episodes were fantastic, but that was too little too late :(

Yeah, much as I think that POTW is one of the very best DW episodes of the last two seasons, I can't watch it all that often. Seeing Nine die and Jack left behind tears me apart every time :( Almost as painful as Doomsday.

Thank you! I don't think the idea itself is that original - there've been a few fics with Jack not left behind, including a couple which rewrote some of the S2 episodes to include him. I'm not going to do much of that, though there will be some episodes referred to, some in more detail than others.

Glad you liked it! I should be posting chapter 2 tomorrow.

Aww, thank you! It's so lovely to feel wanted :)) RL's been busy lately, especially now that I'm back in the land of the employed, plus there's that lingering winter cold that just refuses to go away and leaves me tired out in the evenings :P Not ideal writing conditions. Ah well. It'll give up eventually ;)
