This weekend just about killed me.
Firstly, I've been sick since last Wednesday. A cold, I think. Just general hacking/coughing/sneezing/CAN'T BREATH! stuff. But it has made me just all around exhausted.
Secondly, the hospital exploded. Well, not literally, but we were slammed all day Saturday. On the run from the time I got there until 11:30 or so. A brief respite, long enough to eat lunch, then on the go the rest of the day. The other tech working with me said it stayed pretty busy all the way until 9:30 that night. The upside to the day is that I've pretty much learned how to do a head CT without contrast.
Thirdly, Sunday at the hospital was worse. Not busy like it had been Saturday. Oh no. Much worse. A doc wanted an enema done on a patient. We don't normally do them on weekends, but by the gods, it needed doing. *sigh* I'm not sure what the point of it was. The patient couldn't move into all the positions we needed, was already in pain from a recent surgery, and moaned/screamed at us the entire time. And of course the ER needed something done RIGHT NOW just as we were getting ready to get started on the enema (like the patient is on the table ready for us). Grrrsnarl.
Fourthly, I had to leave the hospital early because we had an extended inservice at the pool to recertify all the lifeguards. I ended up having to be an instructor and check off the guards on some skills, which actually was a blessing. I'm not sure I would have had the energy to do all the skills myself. The downside of that is that I have to check off on them myself this coming Sunday.
I came home last night and collapse in front of USA vs. Canada hockey (OHMYGODSTHATWASAFREAKIN'AWESOMEGAME!!!!!!!!!!!!!1!!!1!!) and fell asleep by 9:30. Today's been a long day (now my knee hurts, damn it), but I have a margarita planned for when I get home in an hour because it's National Margarita Day. Nothing going tomorrow, so there's lots of rest for me and watching "The Bachelor: The Women Tell All." Because I've been sucked into that cultural abyss this winter. Yikes!
