Another coworker is having a birthday this week, and I crocheted a mini cake for her. I placed 2 pieces of stiffened felt inside to make sure the top and bottom stay flat. Otherwise, it'd look like a cupcake. ;) The minicake measures 3" (7½cm) tall from the bottom to the tops of the tiny strawberries, and has a diameter of 2¼" (5¾cm).

Here is a chocolate cupcake with vanilla frosting and a strawberry on top. I used this free pattern on Ana Paula's blog. It's just a wee bit tinier than a real cupcake.
