For my family, April is the time of Birthdays. My dad's birthday just passed, and i made him a little yoda.. Which i couldn't find when i went to take pictures. Well, this April, Easter falls the weekend before my own birthday, and the weekend right after my cousin's birthday. (Big extended family who all live within 20 minutes of my own house... there's LOTS of birthdays.) So, needless to say, I've been slowly working on gifts for Easter as i tried to figure out what to make my cousin. I'm sure I'll figure something out.. just in time for May. ^_~
PURPLE PUPPY! And yes... I know her muzzle looks like a beak. Note to self: Yellow is a pretty Easter color for a pretty Easter gift... but don't, I repeat, don't use it for noses. :-P Plus, i think it was the pattern, which was from
here.
This puppy, while the pattern was for a German Shepherd is actually for my little cousin who has a chihuahua-dachshund mix. I swear, the pup looks like this with the sad looking eyes and the one ear that sticks straight up, while the other flops.. granted, the real pup is white and brown, but that's why this was an Easter pup.
I know, real animal! But: while i was putting together the dog, this cat would not leave me alone. She was all over it, biting the string, chasing the feet as i was making them. I ended up making this cat toy for her.. Which she wanted nothing to do with. Luckily for me, my other cousin has 2 cats who loved it.
Another picture.. Can i say i love this cat? She's not mine, but i do love her so much. Also, I didn't follow a pattern for the toy, just kinda came up with it on my own. but now, i have no idea what i did. lol.
Oh look, a purple/pink dragon and a turtle... explain to me why the turtle is bigger than the dragon? lol. Ok, truth, i like the little dragon. This one is a LOT smaller than the other ones i made. But its cute and for a little girl. Plus, i used different stuffing so it actually stands up on its own. And if you noticed, i "played" with the wings, using the first pattern as a basis, and changing it to give it ridges by using.. uh.. a "crab stitch." The idea was taken from a "j motif." (I started taking an intermediate crochet class to learn more, and that's what we learned the first day.. Leave it to me to put it towards a creature.)
Turtle is "Slow and Steady" from
Super Cute by Annie Obaachan (woo! Library book), dragon is the
same old dragon pattern.
A close up of the two.
A close up of the wings.
Dragon overall.
Turtle overall.
Turtle and dragons were both requests, and will soon be Easter gifts. I also have to make a bird and another turtle, but the other turtle is a different pattern (picked out by a four year old who wanted a "little turtle"). So, as soon as those are done, or as soon as i get around to putting pictures on my computer, expect to see those. Oh, and i have to make another dragon for a boy this time.
