Welcome to WLA and our ami addiction! :o) Great job on your firsties!! :o) You're very brave to be working with a color that you don't like... I always avoid that, except when I'm making something for someone who loves the color in question! ;o) Now... I LOVE pink! So I Love your Pink Collection!
I have noticed that most ami crocheters use worsted weight, or light worsted yarn for their ami's, unless they are making wee ones. I have heard lots of complimentary comments about Caron Simply Soft, in various communities of amigurumi makers, though I have not tried it myself. I knit most of mine, and they're mostly small, so I usually use sport weight yarn, or finer. I use baby yarn a lot, but as I said, I'm knitting most of them.
You can get an excellent selection of eyes from www.crscrafts.com and www.glasseyesonline.com both of which I've purchased from very happily. They also have lots of other goodies for making "bears" which are great for us, too!
For good starting patterns, do check out the posts tagged "beginners" or "beginner" as others have asked this and there is a terrific accumulation of information in these posts! :o) Also, be sure to read our userinfo pages for more tips and help. And have lots of FUN! you're off to a great start! :o)
